Why I Became a Doula

I absolutely love everything everything about motherhood and am hoping to have a family of my own one day. I grew up watching how stressed my mom was even though she loved motherhood as well. She was a single mom trying to keep up with college and her three kids. I grew up helping her with my siblings and then once she got pregnant with my two newest siblings. I have loved helping her through those pregnancies and while they were infants as well.

My mom sadly died in childbirth with my youngest sister in March 2020 due to an Amniotic Fluid Embolism. Because of that I went back home to help my family with all my siblings and took care of my newborn sister, even through the night, for a couple weeks here and there. I gained experience in that dreaded situation and wish I could help more families in their hard times.

I have also been absolutely amazed with childbirth. I am planning on using the knowledge I am gaining by helping mothers around me by getting into birth services. I plan on focusing mainly in the birth process, but am also interested in prenatal, postpartum, lactation, and birth and newborn photography. Currently, I am looking more for experience opportunities and am taking a couple people here and there for cheaper to learn. I would love for experience opportunities and also recommendations on sources to look into and research. If you have any questions, recommendations, or the like just go ahead and message me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
